Borno State’s capital, Maiduguri, is referred to as the “Home of Peace.” The city is an important hub for Islamic scholarship and culture, and it has a long history. The Monday Market and other Maiduguri markets are brimming with regional items and crafts. Renowned for its royal heritage, Borno’s Palace is home to the Shehu of Borno. 

The Chad Basin National Park provides an opportunity for nature lovers to enjoy a variety of fauna and scenery. Notwithstanding obstacles, Maiduguri continues to be a resilient and culturally diverse city that provides a distinctive viewpoint on the history and customs of the area.
